Women ask for passage on the canary audiovisual

This week was introduced the new canary delegation of Women Association of Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media (CIMA), that stands up for increasing the presence of women on the audiovisual sector, besides to create an studio that contains the feminine presence on the islands, and to request public aids that favors the creation of new projects, and make visible this situation.

In 2016, the 90% of the movies filmed on Spain were directed by men, and also, more men are elected for the leading role. This, among other things, has denounced Inés París, the foundress of CIMA, who said that this profession “ejects women”.

The idea of CIMA born twelve years ago, when some professionals of the sector united noticed that “they were a few, and always the same”, and they counted with less advantages that their masculine partners.

So the goal of CIMA and the study that they pretend to do is “beginning a dialogue with the public institutions and to promote effective steps of positive action that achieve to add women on this profession”.
